New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Transmission Line Maintenance) (Level 4) with strands in Line Mechanics and Structure Maintenance [Ref: 2705]

Date new versions published                                                    June 2015

The next review of the replacement qualification is planned to take place during 2020.

Summary of review and consultation process

The review of the above qualification formed part of the electricity supply suite Targeted Review of Qualifications which was triggered in 2012.

The review process included an initial consultation meeting and further working group meetings with mandatory stakeholders, including providers and key industry representatives, within the transmission line maintenance area of the electricity supply industry. An industry learning needs analysis was developed; including a qualification framework with more clearly defined pathways for the electricity supply industry.

Main changes resulting from the review

New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Transmission Line Maintenance) (Level 4) with strands in Line Mechanics and Structure Maintenance [Ref: 2705] was developed to meet the needs of the transmission sector. The qualification allows for trainees in the sector to progress to either line mechanic roles on transmission lines, or the structure maintenance roles for the maintenance of electricity supply structures that are part of the transmission network. Trainees enrolled in the new qualification will need to complete one of the strands in order to achieve the qualification.
