The NZ Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation Incorporated (HITO), operating collaboratively through an agreed MoU with stakeholder parties, has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.

New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Emerging Stylist) (Level 4) [Ref: 2412]
New Zealand Certificate in Hairdressing (Professional Stylist) (Level 4) [Ref: 2413].
Date new versions published March 2015
The review of the replacement New Zealand qualifications is planned to take by 31 December 2020.
Summary of review and consultation process
A review of the industry skill requirements for hairdressing involved the full range of industry stakeholders including PTEs, ITPs, employers, employees, learners and the ITO.
The review was based on comments received from stakeholders as a result of an extensive sector wide consultation process; it has resulted in the development of three new qualifications.

Transition
The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2016.
The last date to meet the requirements of the replaced National Certificate in Hairdressing (Salon Support) [Ref: 0268] and Level 3 local qualifications, or transfer to a programme leading to the replacement qualification, is 31 December 2017, when the qualifications will be discontinued. From that date no results can be reported against the qualifications.
The last date to meet the requirements of the replaced Level 4 local qualifications, or transfer to a programme leading to the replacement qualification, is 31 December 2018, when the qualifications will be discontinued. From that date no results can be reported against the qualifications.

From that date no results can be reported against the qualifications.
