The New Zealand Hairdressing Industry Training Organisation (HITO) Incorporated, in collaboration with identified stakeholders, has completed the review of the qualifications above.
Date replacement qualifications published March 2015
The review of the replacement New Zealand qualifications is planned to take place prior to December 2016.
Summary of review and consultation process
A review of the industry skill requirements for hairdressing involved a range of industry stakeholders including Private Training Establishments, Industry Training Providers, employers, employees, learners, and the HITO.
The review was based on feedback received from stakeholders after a sector wide consultation process. This has resulted in two New Zealand qualifications:

Transition
The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2016, when the replaced qualifications will be designated expiring.
The last date to meet the requirements of the replaced qualifications will be 31 December 2017 when the qualifications will be discontinued. From that date no results can be reported against the qualifications.
People currently working towards the replaced national qualifications may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2017, or transfer their results to the replacement New Zealand qualifications.
