NZ Hair and Beauty Industry Training Organisation Inc (HITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary

As part of the development of new qualifications for the hairdressing industry, HITO’s Hairdressing Advisory Group reviewed the standards listed above.

The review of these standards has resulted in updated outcomes and evidence requirements that reflect current industry practice, and align the required skills and knowledge with the Graduate Profile Outcomes in the proposed New Zealand qualifications.

The Advisory Group has endorsed the changes made to the standards, the development of new standards, and the expiry of some standards.

Main changes

· The level for standard 2878 was amended to better align with the NZQF level descriptors.

· The credits for standards 2755, 2884, 2885, 2889, 2890, 12313, 19792, 25438, and 25794 were amended to better reflect the time required for learning, practice and assessment.

· The titles of standards 2755, 2871, 2878, 2885, 2890, 2891, 12313, and 25437 were amended to reflect changes made to their content.

· Standard 2887 was designated expiring and will not be replaced.

· Standards 2874, 2877, 2882, 2888, and 20929 were designated expiring and replaced with new unit standards.

· Fifteen new unit standards were developed.

· Purpose statements, explanatory notes, entry information, outcomes, evidence requirements, and range statements were updated to ensure they are fit for purpose and to provide clarity for users.

The last date for assessment of the superseded version of these standards is 31 December 2016.  Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after the last date for assessment of the superseded version of the standard.

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2016
