The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Date new versions published                                                          21 May 2015

Planned review date                                                                           31 December 2020

Summary

As a result of the TRoQ process, BCITO has reviewed the listed unit standards to better reflect the requirements of the outcomes listed in the new qualifications.

As a result of this review, two new unit standards have been developed to fill identified gaps.  16 unit standards were reviewed to bring them up to technical and industry specifications.

As a result of the evaluation of the new qualifications the Architectural Aluminium Joinery domain has been moved from the Construction Trades subfield to the Joinery subfield.  These changes were endorsed by both industry and providers in November 2013.

Main changes

·         Reviewed unit standards were moved from the Architectural Aluminium Joinery domain in the Construction Trades subfield to the Architectural Aluminium Joinery domain in the Joinery subfield.

·         Titles, purpose statements, explanatory notes and range statements were amended to ensure they are current and fit-for-purpose.

·         The level of three unit standards was increased to correctly align with industries’ expectations of a graduate’s knowledge and skills, and the NZQF level descriptors.

·         The credits of four unit standards were amended to reflect the time expected for a candidate to demonstrate the required standard of competence.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of these standards is 31 December 2017.  Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after the last date for assessment of the superseded version of the standard.
