Summary of review and consultation process

The review occurred as a result of the mandatory review of manufacturing qualifications, part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ).

29 existing national qualifications were reviewed. 22 were replaced by four New Zealand qualifications. Three will discontinue in 2019 without being replaced. Four are discontinued without replacement immediately.

The mandatory review involved extensive consultation with industry stakeholders. Consultation included working group meetings to determine the detail of the replacement qualifications.

Industry confirmed the ongoing need for textiles manufacturing qualifications that would recognise graduate capabilities and provide good training and employment pathways for trainees.

Main changes resulting from the review

There are no candidates enrolled in Ref: 0076, 0638, 0639 and 0156. These qualifications have been designated discontinued effective immediately.
