industry, has reviewed the qualifications listed above.

Summary of review and consultation process

As a result of the Manufacturing Sector Targeted Review of Qualifications process, it was identified that the above technical qualifications were no longer required by industry. In future, trainees will enrol in the New Zealand Certificate in Manufacturing (Level 2) [Ref: 2729], the New Zealand Certificate in Manufacturing (Level 3) with an optional strand in Productivity Improvement [Ref: 2730], or the New Zealand Certificate in Manufacturing (Level 4) with an optional strand in Technical Support [Ref: 2731] with a paint manufacturing specific industry training programme.  It was also noted that the reviewed qualifications have had very little use in the last five years due to previously identified barriers to completion, and the flexibility offered by the new suite of qualifications will resolve these issues.

The qualifications were designated expiring and will not be replaced.
