NZQA Māori Qualifications Services (MQS) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.

Summary
The Reo Māori unit standards were reviewed as part of their review cycle, to ensure that they are relevant and fit for purpose, and that their outcomes are achievable, coherent, and consistent with valid assessment practices.
In addressing issues identified during the review process, the Whakaruruhau recommended that the Levels 5 and 6 standards, which were no longer fit for purpose, be replaced. They also recommended that the Levels 7 and 8 unit standards, which had no usage and will not form part of any New Zealand qualifications, be designated expiring with no replacements.
The last date for assessment of superseded versions of the reviewed standards is 31 December 2018. Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after the last date for assessment of superseded versions of the unit standards.
Main changes
· The CMR information for the Levels 1 to 3 unit standards was corrected from CMR 0106 to CMR 0226.
· Changes to purpose statements, explanatory notes, outcomes, evidence requirements, and range statements were made to ensure clarity for users.
· Changes in credit values were made to better reflect the time required for learning and assessment.
· Unit standards 29282, 29286, 29283, 29287, 29284, 29288, 29285, and 29289 were developed to replace unit standards 15484, 15485, 15496, 15497, 15488, 15489, 15492, and 15493 respectively.
· Unit standards 15486, 15487, 15498, 15499, 15490, 15491, 15494, and 15495 were designated to expiring with no replacements.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2018
