Summary

During 2014, a mandatory sector review of qualifications in the Healthcare sector occurred.  The New Zealand Diploma in Ambulance Practice (Level 5) [Ref: 3065] was listed in 2015 and to support the new qualification, the Ambulance unit standards were reviewed.  The development encompassed broad consultation with the sector to ensure that the standards align to the qualification outcomes and meet current and future needs.

Main changes

·      New unit standards addressing themes required by the New Zealand Diploma in Ambulance Practice (Level 5) [Ref: 3065] were listed.

·      Unit standards 24858 and 24862-24870 were updated and new versions published with credit values reflecting the experience of assessment against the previous versions and alignment to the outcomes of the new qualification.

·      Unit standards 24855, 24856, and 24861 were replaced by 29415, to update and better reflect natural groupings of outcomes.

·      Unit standards 24859 and 24860 were replaced by 29416, to update and better reflect natural groupings of outcomes.

·      Unit standard 24857 was replaced by 29417, to update and better reflect natural groupings of outcomes.

·      29418, a new standard, was registered; it deals with themes related to, but does not replace, unit standards 24852-24854, which were set to expire.

·      Unit standards 24849 and 24850 were set to expire.

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2019.
