Summary

The Māori Business and Management unit standards were considered as part of their planned review cycle.  Seven of the standards in this subfield are due for review by December 2016.  All of these seven standards are at Levels 2 and 3.  The Whakaruruhau decided to postpone the review of these standards until the Māori Business and Management qualifications at Levels 3 and 4 are listed on the NZQF.  These standards were revised and rolled over to maintain their currency, until they are reviewed (which will happen once the qualifications are listed).

The Whakaruruhau also took the opportunity to expire three unit standards that were no longer deemed relevant or fit for purpose, but weren’t due for review until December 2017.  The last date for assessment of the expiring standards is 31 December 2019.  Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after this last date for assessment.

One new standard was developed to align with outcomes of the new, New Zealand Certificate in Māori Business and Management (Level 5) [Ref: 2712].

Main changes

Reviewed unit standards

·      Unit standards 10675, 10685 and 10689 were reviewed and designated expiring without replacement (review category D).

·      One new standard has been developed, which aligns with outcomes of the new Level 5 qualification.

Revised and rolled over standards

·      Explanatory notes were updated, and those that were no longer relevant and/or seen as barriers to assessment were removed.

·      Minor amendments were made to some evidence requirements to ensure they were consistent with their outcome.

·      The planned review date was extended from 31 December 2016 to 31 December 2017.

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
