Summary

The review of the unit standards listed above is part of the review cycle following the targeted review of qualifications and to ensure the standards are fit for purpose, relevant, and that their outcomes are achievable, coherent, and consistent with valid assessment practices.  The standards were also aligned with the graduate outcomes of the two New Zealand qualifications - Te Pokaitahi o te Mātauranga me te Whakangungu Pakeke (Kaupae 5) [Ref: 2882] and Te Pokairua o te Mātauranga me te Whakangungu Pakeke (Kaupae 6) [Ref: 2883].

The review was carried out in consultation with the Whakaruruhau Te Mātauranga Māori me te Whakangungu at three hui held in April, June and July 2016.  All changes were endorsed by the Whakaruruhau.

·      The titles of unit standards 3700, 3701, 3702, 3703, 18588, 18590, and 25335 were changed to better reflect the standards outcomes.

·      Amendments were made to purpose statements, explanatory notes, outcomes, evidence requirements and range statements to ensure clarity for users and for alignment with the graduate outcomes in the two qualifications.

·      The credit value and level of unit standard 18568 was amended to better reflect the changes made to the standard and the time required for learning, practice, and assessment.

·      The credit value of unit standard 18588 was amended to better reflect the time required for learning, practise, and assessment.

·      Unit standards 3706, 3693, 3695, 3696, and 25336 were replaced.

·      Unit standards 3697, 3709, 16031, 16062, 16066, and 18589 were designated expiring with no replacement.

·      A last date for assessment of superseded versions of the Category B reviewed standards was specified.

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2018, to coincide with the expiry of the National qualifications in Te Mātauranga Māori me te Whakangungu.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2018
