Summary of review and consultation process
The review of the above qualification formed part of the wider Infrastructure Works Targeted Review of Qualifications which was triggered in April 2012, and completed in August 2015. The Infrastructure ITO started with the wider industry consultation process where all stakeholders were invited to participate in the review. From this consultation, a Governance Group and two Working Groups were formed to carry out the qualification and unit standards reviews for Infrastructure Asset Management.
The Working Group for Infrastructure Procurement Procedures reviewed the New Zealand Certificate in Infrastructure Civil Engineering (Procurement Procedures) (Level 6) [Ref: 1785]. The review process confirmed that while on the whole, the current certificate for procurement procedures was meeting the needs of industry, there was still a need to engage with the wider procurement sector and provide a clear career pathway from entry to management level and from one industry sector to another. Industry identified the need for an integrated qualification that will meet the growing demand for expertise in procurement procedures.
