Summary of review and consultation process

A sector review of the qualifications in the Electrotechnology sector took place in 2011. The review included 19 other qualification developers – regulating bodies, industry representatives and training providers – within this sector to ensure that the new qualification would meet current and future needs.

As a result of this review it was recommended that the National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Switchgear Fitter) (Level 3) [Ref: 0933] be replaced by the New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Switchgear Fitting) (Level 4) with an optional Electrical Installer strand [Ref: 3470].

The replacement New Zealand qualification has been registered and the National qualification has been designated expiring.
