Development of Engineering Core Skills unit standards
Competenz has completed the development of three new unit standards.
Date new versions published July 2016
Planned review date December 2021
Summary
As a result of the Targeted Review of Qualifications process, Competenz has developed unit standards to reflect new conditions listed in the graduate profile outcomes in qualifications that require knowledge and application of efficient and effective processes in a mechanical engineering or fabrication environment. Meetings with subject matter experts were conducted, identifying the required content and comparing this content against existing unit standards.
It was identified that there were no suitable unit standards that met the graduate profile outcomes and three new unit standards were developed. The content is based on extensive feedback with industry experts and is endorsed by industry and providers. While these unit standards can be used individually, it is the intention to use them to assess learners in a graduated fashion, with each unit standard building on the recommended pre-requisite unit standard or standards
