The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.
Replacement qualification
New Zealand Certificate in Caretaking (Level 3) [Ref: 3446]
Date new versions published March 2016
The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2021.
Summary of the review and consultation process
This review took place as part of stakeholder consultation for the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) conducted between 2013 and 2015. The replaced Basic Residential Property Maintenance qualification sat under the coverage of BCITO and is being replaced by a Caretaking qualification, which sits under the coverage of Careerforce, after the caretaking sector confirmed the need for such a qualification.
BCITO and Careerforce have agreed on this way forward.

Transition
Learners currently enrolled in programmes leading to the replaced qualification have until 31 December 2017 to complete their programme requirements.
The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualification is 31 December 2016. The last date for award of the replaced qualification is 31 December 2017.
It is not intended that anyone be disadvantaged by this review. However, anyone who feels they have been disadvantaged can appeal to BCITO at the contact details below.
