The Skills Organisation has completed the review of the unit standards for the above classifications.
Date new versions published September 2016
Planned review date December 2021
Summary
Following the sector review of qualifications in the Offender Management sector, and mindful of development and listing of Offender Management New Zealand Certificates under the Targetted Review of Qualifications(TRoQ), consultation with subject matter experts, moderators, assessors, trainers, and union representatives was held over 2014 to 2016 to review the unit standards in the Offender Management domain.
The primary focus of the review was to ensure changes were made to match the new qualification requirements and to address previous difficulties where planning and tracking of assessment had proven to be overly complex and difficult in terms of the overall matrix of Offender Management unit standards.
The primary stakeholder organisations were the Department of Corrections and Serco and endorsement was given, in accordance with their internal management processes.
Main changes
· 23 unit standards were designated expiring and are not being replaced as they do not fit with the array of outcomes to match qualification requirements.
· 12 unit standards were designated expiring and are being replaced.
· New unit standards 29062-29068 and 29485 were created to align with the New Zealand Certificate in Offender Management (Level 3) [Ref: 2658] and the New Zealand Certificate in Offender Management (Level 4) [Ref: 2659].
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
