Summary

 

The Manaaki Marae - Marae Hospitality unit standards were looked at as part of their review cycle. The standards were reviewed and amended to ensure that they are relevant and fit for purpose, and that their outcomes are achievable, coherent, and consistent with valid assessment practices.

 

In addressing issues identified during the review process, the Whakaruruhau recommended that standards in the Whāngai Manuhiri domain needed to go further than the mere preparation of kai, but to include its actual cooking. These standards, which are now no longer fit for purpose, have been expired and replaced by new standards that include cooking kai fit to present to manuhiri.

 

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of the reviewed standards is 31 December 2019. Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after the last date for assessment of superseded versions of the unit standards.

 

Main changes

 

·      The titles of unit standards 21248 and 21253 were changed to better reflect the standards’ outcomes.

·      Changes to purpose statements, explanatory notes, outcomes, evidence requirements, and range statements were made to ensure clarity for users.

·      Credit values for standards 21251 and 27509 were increased in line with amendments made to the standards or to better reflect the time required for learning, practise, and assessment.

·      Unit standards 21245, 27511, 27512 and 27513 were designated expiring and replaced by unit standards 29566, 29567, 29568 and 29569, respectively.

·      Unit standard 27514 was designated expiring with no replacement.

 

Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
