Summary of review and consultation process

During the mandatory review of qualifications for the Mediation sector, it was agreed that the needs of learners seeking to become professional dispute resolution practitioners are best served by postgraduate programmes at Level 7 and above.  An entry-level qualification was initially proposed to replace these qualifications.  This qualification would meet the needs of learners in roles that manage and co-ordinate dispute and complaint cases within dispute resolution organisations and people in other organisations who have a need to understand conflict and the basic principles and types of dispute resolution.  Subsequent to this, the audience was expanded and the second stage of development led to the development of qualifications that meet the needs of learners in any roles aimed at helping to support people through a case in any context.

As a result, the Mediation national qualifications will be phased out and will not be replaced.
