Summary
Unit standards in the Signmaking domain were reviewed and new unit standards were created concurrent with the development of the New Zealand Certificate in Signmaking (Level 4) with optional strands in Traditional Signwriting, Three-Dimensional Sign Fabrication, and Digital Signage [Ref: 3570]. This new qualification is intended to replace the existing New Zealand Certificate in Signmaking (Level 3) [Ref: 1824] and New Zealand Certificate in Signmaking (Level 4) [Ref: 1825].
Industry feedback and needs were considered to meet future requirements and emerging technologies. This resulted in the development of new unit standards.
The classification for Subfield and Domain have been changed and changes made have been endorsed by industry.
Main changes
· Sign Making has been added as a new subfield in the Manufacturing field with two associated domains: Sign Making - Core and Sign Making - Specialisation. The classification Manufacturing > Printing > Signmaking was designated expiring.
· 14 new unit standards were developed under the new Sign Making subfield.
· 13 unit standards in the Signmaking domain were designated expiring without replacement (Category D).
· Unit standards 23828 and 23829 were moved to the Digital Processes for Print domain in the Printing subfield.
· Unit standards 27572 and 27573 were moved to the Sign Making - Core domain under the new Sign Making subfield.
· Unit standard 27584 was moved to the Sign Making - Specialisation domain under the new Sign Making subfield.
· Unit standard 27573 increased from Level 2 to Level 3 and credits reduced from 9 credits to 5 credits.
· Signmaking unit standards have been moved to a different CMR (0013) in line with the revised classification structure, and consolidation of a number of CMRs leading to unit standards administered by Competenz.
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2021
