Summary

The review of the unit standards listed above is part of the planned review cycle following the targeted review of qualifications administered by the Infrastructure ITO and reflecting changes that have occurred within the Roadmarking industry.

This extensive review was conducted by a Working Group that focussed on reviewing unit standards relating to the three roadmarking qualifications at Levels 2, 3 and 4.  The Working Group was representative of the New Zealand Roadmarkers’ Federation, Industry, Assessors, and the Connexis internal Quality Assurance Advisor.

The Working Group focussed on ensuring that the levels and credits were appropriate and the content of the unit standards was current, relevant, achievable, and accurate.  As part of the review, all the unit standards were made available for wider industry consultation on the Connexis website, and subsequent responses were taken into account by the Working Group.

Main changes

·      The standards were reclassified from the Roadmarking domain under the Highway Construction and Maintenance subfield to the Roadmarking domain under the Infrastructure Works subfield.

·      The level was increased from 3 to 4 on standards 21425 and 21427 in order to align more accurately with the outcomes.

·      The level and credits for standard 15934 were reduced in order to align more accurately with outcomes.

·      Legislation, approved codes of practice, guidelines and New Zealand Standards applying to roadmarking operations were updated.

·      New Zealand Transport Agency’s Technical documents applying to roadmarking have been revised and expired documents were deleted from the guidance information.

·      Workplace assessment requirements were updated.

·      Outcomes and/or performance criteria were changed in standards 15925, 15934, 15936, 15937, 18045, 18046, 18047, 18049, 18050, 18053, 21419, 21430, and 21431.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2018.
