The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2019.

Summary of the review and consultation process

As a result of the mandatory targeted review of qualifications, New Zealand Business Qualifications were listed in January 2016. These replaced National Diplomas at Level 5 and Level 6 and included specialist strands. At that time the strands did not include Human Resources or Marketing and Sales, as it was decided during the review these would be addressed in a separate phase of development work. 

During 2016, needs analyses were prepared and strands in these areas were developed.

The revised qualifications were consulted on during November/December via the NZQA website.

Main changes resulting from the revision

• Strands in Human Resources, and Sales and Marketing were added to both qualifications.
