NZ Marine and Composites Industry Training Organisation (NZMAC ITO) has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published August 2017
Planned review date December 2022
Summary
NZMAC ITO carried out a review of unit standards to better align to graduate outcomes of the New Zealand qualifications relating to the marine industry. Subject matter experts and industry provided feedback and input into the development of these standards. There was no feedback from other organisations with consent to assess against these standards.
There has been no significant usage of these standards and Polytechnics such as Unitec have for some years withdrawn from delivering boatbuilding and design programmes.
Main changes
· The credit value of unit standard 26089 increased from 8 to 12 to better reflect the learning and assessment time. The level also increased from Level 5 to Level 6 to better reflect the complexity of the outcomes.
· Unit standard titles and content were updated to better reflect the standard outcomes.
· Unit standards 10857 and 10859 were designated expiring without replacement as they are no longer current or required by the industry.
· Two new unit standards were developed to better reflect current design processes and current industry practice.
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2018
The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is 31 December 2018
