Competenz has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published August 2017
Planned review date December 2022
Summary
These unit standards were reviewed and new unit standards were written to align with the recently registered New Zealand Certificates in Mechanical Engineering and to meet Competenz’ s ongoing unit standard review schedule.
The review was carried out in consultation with mechanical engineering industry technical experts and the changes were endorsed by the industry technical group.
The review resulted in the recommendation to move all unit standards from the Metal Casting domain to a new Metal Forming domain to reflect the current nature of work being carried out by this industry sector.
Main changes
· Changes were made to outcome statements, evidence requirements, and range statements to clarify assessment requirements, remove duplication, and ensure alignment with current industry requirements. Unit standards were modified to align with the revised NZQA guidelines.
· Credit values were adjusted where necessary to reflect the time required to acquire the skills and knowledge.
· Two new unit standards were developed.
· All new and reviewed unit standards in the Metal Casting domain have been moved to the new Metal Forming domain.
