Summary
The review of these unit standards was prompted by the outcomes of the mandatory review of qualifications, specifically the listing of:
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Level 4) with strands in Abseil, Bush, Caving, Education Outside The Classroom, Mountain Biking (Grade 2), Raft Guide (Grade II), River Boarding Guide (Grade II), and Rock Climbing [Ref: 3662]
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Guiding) (Level 5) with strands in Bush, Caving, Mountain Biking (Grade 4), National Raft Guide (Grade III), National River Boarding Guide (Grade III), National River Boarding Guide (Grade IV/V), and Rock Climbing [Ref: 3660]
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Instruction) (Level 5) with strands in Alpine, Bush, Caving Streamway, Education Outside The Classroom, Mountain Biking (Grade 4), and Rock Climbing [Ref: 3661]
· New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Senior Leadership (Level 6) with strands in Alpine, Bush, Caving, Education Outside The Classroom, Mountain Biking (Grade 5), Senior Raft Guide (Grade III), Senior Raft Guide (Grade IV/V), Senior River Boarding Guide (Grade III), Senior River Boarding Guide (Grade IV/V), and Rock Climbing [Ref: 3663]
Feedback from stakeholders was gathered through an open consultation process and used to guide the development of the industry training programmes for the qualification above, and the development and review of the associated unit standards.
The review unit standards were found to no longer be fit for purpose, relevant nor aligned with outcomes listed in the new qualifications.
New unit standards were developed to meet industry needs for the following strands:
· Bush
· Caving
· Mountain Biking
Main changes
· 11 standards to expire
· 23 new standards were developed
· Standard 20131 was replaced with 30671
· Standard 20143 was replaced with 30689
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2021.
