The Building and Construction Industry Training Organisation (BCITO) has reinstated and extended the expiry dates of the unit standards listed above.  The unit standards that were reinstated are listed in bold.

Date new versions published                                                          January 2017

Summary

The BCITO received a request from providers that the last date for assessment for these unit standards be extended to allow learners to complete expiring qualifications using their existing programmes.

The National Diploma in Construction Management (Level 6) [Ref: 0356], National Diploma in Architectural Technology (Level 6) [Ref: 0357] and the National Diploma in Quantity Surveying (Level 6) [Ref: 0358] have been replaced by the New Zealand Diploma in Architectural Technology (Level 6) [Ref: 2416] and the New Zealand Diploma in Construction (Level 6) with strands in Construction Management and Quantity Surveying [Ref: 2420].  The last date for assessment of the replaced qualifications is the 01 March 2019, which did not align with the last date for assessment for these unit standards.  As a result, the unit standards required a change in expiry date to allow learners who are unable to complete the replacement units or transition into the replacement qualifications, to achieve the qualifications until it is discontinued.

Where possible, the BCITO strongly encourages providers to transition learners to the New Zealand qualifications and/or utilise reverse transition arrangements included in the replaced qualifications.

Main changes

·        The majority of the standards were reinstated and a new date for expiry was specified – 01 March 2019 (previously 31 December 2016).

·        The expiry date of standards 9661 and 10042 was extended from 31 December 2018 to 01 March 2019.
