Date new version published July 2017
Planned review date December 2022
Summary
As a result of the Targeted Review of Qualifications process, this unit standard was expired in 2014 and its contents replaced by a series of unit standards contributing to the New Zealand Certificate in Energy and Chemical Operations (Boiler Operation) (Level 3) [Ref: 2306]. This qualification is designed for people who are deemed ‘Qualified Operators’ for boilers less than 20MW.
Unit standard 21460 is being reinstated as it recognises the skills required to operate an unattended small steam boiler or hot water boiler (under 500 kW), with authority to operate as a ‘Responsible Person’ under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and Approved Code of Practice for the Design, Safe Operation, Maintenance and Servicing of Boilers 1992.
Stakeholders were consulted in June 2017. All feedback was actioned where appropriate.
Main changes
