The Skills Organisation has completed the review of the qualifications listed above.

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2022.

 

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The security qualifications have been reviewed as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) process. This review included extensive consultation with industry stakeholders, including employers, membership organisations, and training providers.  Through this process, it was confirmed that new qualifications should be developed at Levels 3, 4, and 6.  

 

Main changes resulting from the review

 

The national certificates and diplomas listed above will be expired.  Below is a summary of the recommended replacement information.

These qualifications will be set to expire with no replacement. 

 

Transition

 

As the new certificates reflect current and future training needs it is the industry's and

SSB's preference and recommendation for trainees to enter into programmes leading to the New Zealand Qualifications.

 

Trainees currently enrolled in programmes leading to the replaced qualifications may either complete the requirements by 31 December 2021 or transfer to the replacement qualification.

 

The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2019.  The last date of assessment for programmes leading to the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2021 at which time they will be designated as discontinued.

 

The last date for entry into programmes leading to the qualifications with no replacement is 31 December 2019 and the last date of assessment for programmes leading to the qualifications is 31 December 2021, at which time they will be designated as discontinued.

 

It is the intention of The Skills Organisation that no existing trainee should be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.  Any person who considers they have been disadvantaged may appeal to:

Key to Qualification Review Categories

 

Category A

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

Changes are made to SSB name, contact details or purpose statement

No change is made to title, rules or components of the qualification

No transition arrangements are required

Category B

The qualification is published as a new version with the same NQF ID

Changes are made to title, rules or components

The new version of the qualification recognises a similar skill set to that recognised by the previous version

The SSB is confident that people awarded the new or previous version are comparable in terms of competence

Transition arrangements are required if candidates must gain additional/different credits for the new version

Category C

A new (replacement) qualification is published with new NQF ID

Significant changes are made to the qualification in terms of components, structure, type or level

The SSB views people with the replacement qualification as being significantly different in terms of competence from those with the replaced qualification

Transition arrangements are required

Transition may be limited to phase-out dates

Category D

Qualification will expire.

There is no replacement qualification

Qualification is no longer required by industry
