Summary

The shortage of unit standards at Level 2 suitable for trainees contemplating to enter the retail or distribution sectors was recognised by the SSB.  To address this, an expired unit standard was reinstated and reviewed and two new unit standards were developed to make up for the shortfall.  These unit standards were endorsed by industry and schools advisors.

Main changes

·      Unit standard 11985 was reinstated.  Changes were made to the title, guidance information and outcome statement.  Legislation was also updated to reflect the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015.

·      Two new standards were developed.

·      The two new unit standards were added to the standards exclusion list to avoid the use of credits from the new unit standards and similar expiring unit standard 414, Demonstrate knowledge of the distribution environment and expiring unit standard 11975, Pick and assemble goods for dispatch in a retail or distribution environment.

The last date for assessment of the most recent superseded version of the Category B standard is 31 December 2019.
