Summary

As a result of the Targeted Review of Qualifications process, Primary ITO has reviewed a number of unit standards to better reflect the requirements of the outcomes listed in the New Zealand Certificate in Therapeutic Riding (Level 3) [Ref: 2378] and the New Zealand Certificate in Therapeutic Riding (Level 4) [Ref: 2379] qualifications.

This development was done in collaboration with the Riding for the Disabled industry.  Providers with consent to assess against the affected unit standards were informed of this review and given the opportunity to give feedback.

Main changes

·      Five unit standards have been reviewed and marked as Category B.

·      Three unit standards have been replaced by new unit standards.  These unit standards have been marked as Category C.

·      14 new unit standards have been written.

·      A new domain Riding for the Disabled has been approved by NZQA.

·      A last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B standards was specified.

Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2021

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2019
