Planned review date                                                                           December 2021

Summary

The review of these unit standards was initiated through their planned review and the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) for Engineering and Technology triggered for 2011.

The unit standards were reviewed to ensure that they are fit for purpose, relevant to the Electrical Equipment in Explosive Atmospheres sector of the Electrical Engineering Industry and are readily available for assessment.  Industry representatives from the TRoQ Review and Qualification Development Group were involved in the review and writing of these unit standards and took into account the requirements of AS/NZS 4761.1:2017 Competencies for working with electrical equipment in hazardous areas (EEHA), which is in draft format.  Standards Australia plan to publish the final version later in 2017, at which time The Skills Organisation will review the unit standards covered in this application against the published Standard.

Main changes

·         Changes were made to accurately reflect industry terminology and practice, entry requirements, and evidence requirements.

·         10 unit standards have been reviewed as Category B.

·         4 new unit standards were developed.

·         1 unit standard has been reviewed as Category C and replaced.

·         A last date for superseded versions of Category B unit standards was specified.

The Category C unit standard will expire at the end of December 2020
