The Funeral Services Training Trust has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published March 2017
Planned review date December 2020
Summary
The Funeral Services Training Trust has reviewed the unit standards listed above to bring them up to date and align them to their qualifications which have been through the Targeted Review of Qualifications process. The Advisory Group met to discuss the changes in August 2016, the unit standards were amended and circulated to the industry for endorsement in November 2016. Workplace practices in the Funeral Services sector have changed over the last five years requiring some major changes to the existing unit standards. The review of the qualifications has meant that the credit values on the unit standards no longer align with the qualification outcomes and have had to be revised.
The levels on some of the unit standards are also no longer aligned with the roles and responsibilities of the people carrying out that type of work and have also been revised.
New practices in the industry have necessitated some outcomes to be moved between unit standards and five new unit standards have been developed to cover new skill sets and replace some existing skill sets. Content of the unit standards has also been revised to bring them up to date and fit for purpose.
Main changes
· Eight unit standards have had their titles amended to more accurately reflect the unit standard content.
· 14 unit standards have changed in credit value to reflect the change in qualification outcome credits.
· Five unit standards have had their levels raised to reflect the responsibilities of the role holders.
· Three existing unit standards have been replaced by two new unit standards.
· Three new unit standards have been developed to cover skill sets not previously recognised in the industry.
· Explanatory notes have been brought up to date.
· Outcomes, evidence requirements and range statements have been brought up to date.
· A last date for assessment of the superseded versions of the Category B standards was specified.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2018
