Summary
The review of the unit standards above was prompted by the outcomes of the mandatory review of qualifications, specifically the listing of the New Zealand Certificate in Aquatics with strands in Pool Lifeguard, Swim and Water Safety Teacher, and Aquafitness Instructor [Ref: 3503].
These unit standards were reviewed to check if still fit for purpose, relevant and aligned with outcomes listed in the new qualification. It was confirmed that they did not meet the future needs of industry and changes were required.
Unit standard 27710 was updated and new unit standards were created to align with the graduate profile of the listed qualification.
Feedback from stakeholders was gathered through an open consultation process and used to guide the development of the industry training programme and the development and review of the associated unit standards.
Main changes
· Unit standards 22299-22301, 27498-27499, and 27540-27543 have been set to expire without replacement.
· Unit standard 27710 has been reviewed and changes made to the purpose, outcomes, and evidence requirements. The classification for this unit standard has also been changed.
· Five new unit standards have been developed.
· A last date for assessment of the superseded version of standard 27710 was specified.
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
