Planned review date                                                                           December 2022

Summary

As a result of the Targeted Review of Qualifications process, it became necessary for MITO to review a number of unit standards.  As part of this process, and with additional feedback received by industry, it was noted that several changes needed to be made to unit standard 23927 to better reflect the requirements of the outcomes listed in the new qualifications to ensure its relevance for future learning, practice and assessment.

The review resulted in changes throughout unit standard 23927 to ensure that it remains fit-for-purpose and aligns with current industry practice in regard to automotive hydraulic principles.

The changes made have been supported by the industries working group.  Representation in the working group included subject matter experts, industry representatives, provider representatives and MITO representatives.  The reviewed unit standard was circulated in the working group’s greater networks and all feedback was actioned where appropriate.

Main changes

·      The title was amended to remove “practices, systems and components”.  The title now only outlines significant outcomes within the unit standard.

·      The unit standard purpose was amended to reflect the title and outcome changes.

·      Guidance Information was updated to reference current legislation.

·      Outcome statements 1 and 3 were standardised to remove reference to ‘automotive components’ and ‘automotive applications’.  The context of the unit standard is established in the unit standard title.

·      Performance criteria were combined in Outcome 2 and 3 to avoid duplication.

·      Range statements were amended in Performance criteria 2.1, 2.2 and 3.2 to clearly specify updated requirements for assessment.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of this Category B unit standard is 31 December 2019.
