Reason for the republication
The national qualifications were set to expiring during 2016 as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) for the Recreation and Sport sector. The qualifications were either directly replaced or had recommended alternative qualifications listed.
The national qualifications required an extension to the last date for entry into programmes leading to them in order allow for the new programmes of industry new qualifications to be finalised and made available for delivery.
The last date for assessments to take place for the national qualifications was not extended and remains at 31 December 2019.
Main changes resulting from the republication
The change to transition information was also updated on the New Zealand qualifications that replaced the National qualifications. Qualifications National Certificate in Recreation and Sport (Level 3) [Ref: 1711] and National Certificate in Recreation and Sport (Level 4) [Ref: 1712] have not been replaced.
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Skills Active Aotearoa Ltd at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.
