CMR for Building and Construction [Ref: 0048]

Revision of Building and Construction ITO CMR

The Building and Construction ITO (BCITO) has completed the revision of the Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR) above.

Date new version published                                                             April 2018

The next CMR review is planned to take place during 2020.

Summary of revision

The BCITO in keeping with self-assessment processes and continuous improvement identified an opportunity to improve moderation processes mainly with schools delivering Building, Construction, and Allied Trades Skills (BCATS) standards.  Informal feedback from the traditional postal moderation system clearly indicated a lack in value with this type of moderation, accordingly a cluster workshop approach has been established.  This will encourage peer moderation, peer to peer learning and other professional development opportunities for assessors and tutors operating in this space.

CMR 0048 has been modified only under the post-assessment moderation heading.  There is no significant impact on organisations seeking consent to assess.  As BCITO has informally been running this process, schools are already engaging with positive feedback.

Compliance with new requirements

Moderation system requirements will apply with effect from May 2018.

Organisations with consent to assess will be expected to be able to demonstrate compliance with the CMR from January 2018 onwards.
