Primary ITO has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published April 2018
Planned review date December 2023
Summary
Primary ITO has reviewed a number of unit standards to better reflect the requirements of the outcomes listed in new Arboriculture qualifications. Primary ITO has also developed a number of new unit standards to meet industry need and reflect the outcomes listed in the new qualifications.
There are a number of TEOs with consent to assess by level, others have consent to assess for individual unit standards. They have had the opportunity to review the relevant unit standards and offer feedback. Feedback has been incorporated where appropriate.
Consultation commenced with an initial full day meeting of the Working Group in September 2017 which was attended by representatives from the Arboriculture industry. This was followed up in October and November 2017 by emails, phone calls and individual face to face meetings with members of the Working Group and other industry stakeholders with particular areas of expertise. There were also two skype meetings, one in September and one in October attended by representatives who reviewed the unit standards.
A further skype meeting was also conducted in November, and changes made in consultation with climbing and tree health experts. Amended draft unit standards were reviewed by several industry representatives with relevant expertise in this area.
Draft versions of the unit standards were sent out via online survey for wider consultation to all stakeholders including industry and consent to assess holders. Feedback from this review was collated and sent to the Working Group for consideration and feedback. On 1 February 2018, a meeting was held to sign-off and agree on any changes to be made in reference to the feedback from the survey.
All feedback was actioned where appropriate.
Main changes

· Five new unit standards have been developed to replace five unit standards whose outcomes, have changed significantly.
· Three new unit standards have been developed to meet industry training needs, including the level at which particular understanding and work practices need to be demonstrated.
Category C unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2019
