Summary of review and consultation process

Industry requested a review of Infrastructure Industry Training Organisation (Connexis) Civil Trade qualifications because the career pathway and structure of the suite was confusing with significant overlap between skills, and uptake had been limited.  The relationships between the Civil Trades qualifications and the New Zealand Certificate qualifications in the same fields meant that all qualifications in the Infrastructure Works career pathway needed reviewing to ensure a cohesive suite was developed.

Connexis commenced an early review with industry stakeholders in June 2017.  Meetings were held in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch between June 2017 and February 2018 to review the qualification outcomes and develop a suite of qualifications relevant for industry in the context of a coherent career pathways for the Infrastructure Works sector.
