Review of Seafood qualification

 

New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Fishing (Level 3) [Ref: 3133]

 

The Primary ITO has completed the review of the qualification listed above.

 

Date new version published August 2018

 

The next qualification review is planned to take place in December 2022.

 

Summary of review and consultation process

 

The Primary ITO is working to ensure the commercial fishing qualifications meet the needs of industry. This review process has identified that the current qualification does not allow for workplace variations and contexts. The addition of strands provides optional training extension opportunities, according to workplace specialisation.

 

Industry specialists provided content to inform the review, which was verified by extensive consultation with industry stakeholders.

 

Main changes resulting from the review

·         Strands for Shellfish, Wet Fish, Frozen Fish were added to the qualification.

Transition

The last date for assessment of versions 1 and 2 of this qualification is 31 December 2018.

There are no implications for transition as there are no providers offering programmes against this qualification.
