MITO New Zealand Incorporated (MITO) and Competenz have reviewed the unit standards listed above to facilitate the change in standard setting body responsibility from MITO to Competenz.

Unit standards that have changed in standard setting body responsibility are in bold and italics.  All other unit standards have been reviewed.

Date new versions published                                                               December 2018

Planned review date                                                                              December 2021

Summary

In October 2018, Competenz gained gazetted coverage for the protective coatings industry.  Accordingly, MITO and Competenz reviewed the unit standards in the Industrial Coatings subfield with the following outcomes:

(1)    For those unit standards Competenz intend to maintain, the unit standards were revised and rolled over with the transfer of standard setting responsibility.

(2)   Unit standards which Competenz do not intend to use were set to expiring, and will remain with MITO as the SSB until expiry.  The expiry date for these standards is 31 December 2019.

Main changes

·           Unit standards 17525, 17526, 17527, 17531, 17537, 17540, 17547 and 23539 transferred standard setting body responsibility from MITO to Competenz.  As a result, the following changes were made:

-     these standards were reclassified and will now be listed under Manufacturing > Manufacturing Skills > Manufacturing Processes.

-     Planned review date was extended from December 2019 to December 2021.

-     the standards are now covered by CMR 0013.

-     Guidance information section were updated.

·      The remaining unit standards in the Industrial Coatings subfield will expire and not be replaced.

Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019

Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)

The unit standards that were revised and rolled over as a result of the change in standard setting body responsibility were transferred from CMR 0114 to CMR 0013.  Both CMR documents were updated to reflect this transfer.
