Republication of Electrical and Electronic Engineering qualifications

National Certificate in Electronic Engineering (Level 3) [Ref: 1093];

National Certificate in Electronic Engineering (Level 4) [Ref: 1123];

National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Appliance and Electronic Servicing (Level 3) [Ref: 1265]; and

National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Appliance and Electronic Servicing) (Level 4) with strands in Commercial Electrical Appliances, Domestic Electrical Appliances, Electronic Consumer Goods, Office Equipment, and Portable Electrical Appliances and Power Tools [Ref: 1266].

The Skills Organisation has reviewed the replaced qualifications to change the last dates for assessment of the qualifications associated with Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering to ensure learners are not disadvantaged.

Because of delays in the development of programmes leading to the New Zealand qualifications, it has been necessary to change the last dates for assessment of the National qualifications.

Replacement qualifications

New Zealand Certificate in Electrotechnology (Level 3) with strands in Installation, and Service [Ref: 2767];

New Zealand Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrical and Electronic Installation and Service) (Level 4) with strands in Domestic Systems and Products, Commercial Equipment, and Consumer Electronics [Ref: 2768]; and

New Zealand Certificate in Electronic Engineering (Level 4) [Ref: 2981].

Main changes resulting from the review

• The last date for assessment of programmes leading to the National qualifications are changed to 31 December 2021.
• The replacement New Zealand qualifications have been updated to reflect these date changes.
• The last date for assessment of programmes leading to superseded versions of the National qualifications are changed from December 2022 to December 2019 as follows: version 2 [Ref: 1093], version 1 and 2 [Ref: 1265], and version 1 [Ref: 1266]; and from December 2020 to December 2019 for version 2 [Ref: 1123].

NZQF National Qualification Registration Information

The last date for entry into the National Certificate in Electronic Engineering (Level 3) [Ref: 1093]; National Certificate in Electronic Engineering (Level 4) [Ref: 1123]; National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Appliance and Electronic Servicing (Level 3) [Ref: 1265]; and National Certificate in Electrical Engineering (Electrical Appliance and Electronic Servicing) (Level 4) with strands in Commercial Electrical Appliances, Domestic Electrical Appliances, Electronic Consumer Goods, Office Equipment, and Portable Electrical Appliances and Power Tools [Ref: 1266], is 31 December 2018 and the last date for assessment is 31 December 2021.

Transition

Existing trainees enrolled in the National qualifications can either complete the qualifications or transfer their results to the New Zealand qualifications.

It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to The Skills Organisation at the address below.  Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.
