The NZQA Māori Qualifications Services has completed the review of the unit standards listed above.
Date new versions published January 2018
Planned review date December 2022
Summary
An opportunity was taken for the Whakaruruhau to review the Tikanga unit standards before they were due for review. The majority of the standards were amended to ensure that they are still relevant and fit for purpose, and that their outcomes are achievable, coherent, and consistent with valid assessment practices.
In addressing issues identified during the review process, the Whakaruruhau recommended that standard 27121, which was deemed not fit for purpose, be expired. Standards that were recently revised were added to this review.
Main changes
· The titles of unit standards 16057, 16142, 27107, 27125 and 29317 were changed in line with amendments made to the standards’ outcomes.
· Credit value for standard 27107 was increased to reflect the time required for learning and assessment, due to the addition of performance criteria.
· The guidance information for all standards was updated, including adding information about, and a definition for, tikanga.
· Changes to outcomes, performance criteria, and range statements were made to ensure clarity for users.
· Changes to purpose statements were made to ensure consistency with titles and outcomes.
· Unit standard 27121 was designated expiring with no replacement.
· A last date for assessment of superseded versions was specified. Results will not be accepted where the assessment date is after the last date for assessment of superseded versions of the unit standards.
Category D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2019
