Summary

Three unit standards were reviewed at the request of the industry to address the following issues:

· The scope of compulsory core unit standard 30151 was restrictive and prohibited people in some organisations from completing the standard.

· Terminology relating to laminating in unit standard 30161 was unclear.

· Unit standard 30153 had marking out skills missing.

Industry consultation was carried out to complete the review and the changes were endorsed by industry and Competenz.

Main changes

· Unit standard 30151 was reviewed to allow for signs to be produced by hand painting or by the application of film. The title was changed to more accurately reflect its content. The use of PPE and height access equipment, and work completion tasks were added.

· Terms relating to laminating in unit standard 30161 were changed to current industry terminology.

· Unit standard 30153 had a performance criterion added to cover marking out.

· Unit standard terms were updated to reflect the latest template.

· A last date for assessment of superseded versions of the standards listed above was specified.

The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2018
