Summary
Standard 11280 was reviewed to ensure ongoing fitness for purpose. The review was carried out in late 2017 by an expert panel comprised of representation from polytechnics, private training establishments, ITOs and moderators. The draft standard was then consulted on in March 2018 with the sector, a process that resulted in some further small changes being made to the standard.
At the same time standards 26171 and 26172 were also considered. It was decided to amend the planned review date to allow sufficient time to gather information on usage patterns in the context of the newly developed New Zealand qualifications.
Main changes
· Monitoring of quality assurance was added to outcome 3 of standard 11280 as something that happens naturally during assessment of this standard and should be recognised. This resulted in an increase in credits from 9 to 15. The title was also amended to include monitoring.
· Other minor wording changes were made to standard 11280 for clarity, to ensure consistency with other Generic Education and Training unit standards.
· The planned review date for standards 26171 and 26172 was amended from 31 December 2018 to 31 December 2021.
· The standards were transferred to the latest template, where Explanatory notes are renamed Guidance information, and Evidence requirements become Performance criteria.
