Date new versions published May 2018
Planned review date December 2022
Summary
As a result of the Targeted Review of Qualifications process, it became necessary for MITO to review stevedoring and ports industry unit standards to better reflect the requirements of the outcomes listed in the new qualifications and to ensure they remain fit-for-purpose. Alongside industry, MITO has reviewed one standard, reinstated one standard and developed one new standard. These standards align with the New Zealand Certificate in Port Operations (Level 3) with strands in Port Administration, Cargo Handling, and Heavy Machine Operation [Ref: 2814].
MITO was supported by the industry’s working group during this review. Representation in the working group included subject matter experts from several New Zealand ports, industry and MITO representatives. The standards were also circulated in the working group’s greater networks and all feedback was actioned where appropriate.
