Summary
MITO has reviewed the unit standards listed above and developed new unit standards at the request of industry.
The unit standards were reviewed to align with the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport Skills (Level 3) [Ref: 3088] and the New Zealand Certificate in Commercial Road Transport (Heavy Vehicle Operator) (Level 3) [Ref: 3089].
This review has resulted in fit-for-purpose assessment materials made available to industry that reflects current legislation and industry practice.
MITO’s commercial road transport industry working group endorsed the outcome of the unit standard review. The working group includes subject matter experts and representatives from industry and MITO. The unit standards were circulated in the working group’s greater networks and all feedback was actioned where appropriate.
Main changes
· Title, guidance information, outcome and performance criteria for unit standards 1735, 1753, 15158, and 17972 were amended to reflect current legislation and regulatory requirements, industry practice and recommendations, and to clarify their intent.
· The level increased, and credits decreased for unit standard 1735 to better align with the Level Descriptors and better reflect the required learning and assessment time.
· Pre-requisite entry information was added for unit standard 15158 to reflect industry and regulatory requirements.
· Three new unit standards were developed to meet industry requirements.
· Reviewed unit standards were transferred onto the current template.
· The last date for assessment of superseded versions of Category B unit standards is December 2020.
Impact on Consent and Moderation Requirements (CMR)
Unit standards covered by CMR 0092 have been transferred to CMR 0014.
