Summary
The review of these unit standards was prompted by ongoing development within this Outdoor Recreation activity and the development of the following qualifications:
New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Level 4) with strands [Ref: 3662];
New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Instruction) (Level 5) with strands [Ref: 3661];
New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Leadership (Guiding) (Level 5) with strands [Ref: 3660];
New Zealand Certificate in Outdoor Senior Leadership (Level 6) with strands [Ref: 3663].
Feedback from stakeholders was gathered through an open consultation process and used to guide the development and review of the associated unit standards.
The reviewed unit standards were found to be no longer fit for purpose, relevant nor aligned with outcomes expected by the Outdoor Recreation industry.
In the process of developing above qualifications, industry identified the need to develop new standards to be able to assess high ropes, and the new high wire context.
Main changes
· Two standards were designated as expiring without replacement. These were considered no longer fit for purpose.
· One standard was designated as expiring with replacement.
· Eleven new standards were developed to meet the needs of industry.
Category C and D unit standards will expire at the end of December 2023
