Review and development of Information Technology qualifications
New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner with strands in Server Administration, Network Administration, and Information Technology Security (Level 6) [Ref: 2599].
IT Professionals New Zealand (ITP) and NZQA National Qualifications Services (NQS) has completed the review of the qualification listed above, and development of the new qualifications listed below.
New qualifications
New Zealand Diploma in Cybersecurity (Level 6) [Ref: 3837]
New Zealand Diploma in Software Testing (Level 6) [Ref: 3849]

The qualification review of the new qualifications is due in 2022.
The qualification review of the New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner with strands [Ref: 2599] is due with the rest of the suite of IT qualifications by 31 December 2019.
Summary of review and consultation process
This review involved the development of two new qualifications in Cybersecurity and Software Testing, to add to the suite of New Zealand IT qualifications at Level 6.
A new strand in software testing has also been added to the existing New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner [Ref: 2599]. There have been no changes to the graduate profile of the existing strands, but the reviewed qualification does include changes in the qualification specifications and the general conditions for the programme leading to the qualification sections, most noticeably the inclusion of practical experience requirements.
The review involved broad consultation with the sector. Stakeholders confirmed the need for qualifications in these areas that would recognise graduate capabilities and provide education pathways.

Transition
The last date for assessment of version 1 of the New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner with strands in Server Administration, Network Administration, and Information Technology Security (Level 6) [Ref: 2599] qualification is 31 December 2021.
Candidates enrolled in programmes leading to version 1 may complete the requirements by December 2021 or transfer their achievement to version 2 of the qualification.
