Summary of review and consultation process

This review involved the development of two new qualifications in Cybersecurity and Software Testing, to add to the suite of New Zealand IT qualifications at Level 6.

A new strand in software testing has also been added to the existing New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner [Ref: 2599]. There have been no changes to the graduate profile of the existing strands, but the reviewed qualification does include changes in the qualification specifications and the general conditions for the programme leading to the qualification sections, most noticeably the inclusion of practical experience requirements.

The review involved broad consultation with the sector.  Stakeholders confirmed the need for qualifications in these areas that would recognise graduate capabilities and provide education pathways.

Main changes resulting from the review

New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner (Level 6) with strands in Server Administration, Network Administration, and Information Technology Security [Ref: 2599-1] replaced by

New Zealand Certificate in Information Technology Practitioner (Level 6) with strands in Server Administration, Network Administration, Information Technology Security, and Software Testing [Ref: 2599-2].
