Republication of Recreation and Sport qualification
National Certificate in Recreation and Sport – Coaching and Instruction with Strands in Cycle Skills Instructor, and Developing Coach [Ref: 1626]
Skills Active Aotearoa Ltd. has republished the qualification listed above.
Date republished October 2018
Reason for the republication
The national qualification was set to expiring during 2016 as part of the Targeted Review of Qualifications (TRoQ) for the Recreation and Sport sector. It became apparent during the development of programmes leading to the replacement qualification that this would not meet the needs of trainees in the Cycle Skills Instructor strand.
A new qualification to meet the needs of the Cycle Skills Instructors is in development, and the extension to the national qualification is required to provide an ongoing training pathway while this development is completed.
The last date of entry to programmes leading to the replaced qualification has been extended to 30 June 2019.
The last date for assessments to take place was not extended and remains at 31 December 2019.
Main changes resulting from the republication
It is anticipated that no existing candidates will be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements. However, anyone who feels that they have been disadvantaged may appeal to Skills Active Aotearoa Ltd at the address below. Appeals will be considered on a case by case basis.
