Summary

The review of these unit standards was prompted by the outcomes of the mandatory review of qualifications, specifically the listing New Zealand Certificate in Aquatics (Senior Pool Lifeguard) (Level 4) [Ref: 3506].

Feedback from stakeholders was gathered through an open consultation process and used to guide the development of the industry training programme for the qualification above, and the development and review of the associated unit standards.

The reviewed unit standard was found to no longer be fit for purpose, nor aligned with outcomes listed in the new qualification, and so required amendment.

New unit standards were developed to meet industry needs for senior pool lifeguards.

Main changes

· The title, guidance information, outcomes, performance criteria and range statements were amended to reflect current industry expectations.

· Two new unit standards were developed.

The last date for assessment for superseded versions of the Category B reviewed standard is December 2020
