Review of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology qualification

New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Network Control) (Level 4) [Ref: 3721]

The Infrastructure ITO (Connexis) has completed the review of the qualification listed above.

Date new version published                                                                 July 2018

The next qualification review is planned to take place during 2023.

Reason for review

Industry requested a review of the Electricity Supply – Network Control qualification. Programme development raised concerns that the current outcomes did not reflect the actual role of a Network Controller, at Level 4.

Summary of review and consultation process

Connexis commenced an early review with industry stakeholders. Meetings were held in Wellington between January and May 2018 to revise the qualification outcomes and make them relevant for industry.

Main changes resulting from the review

·         The total credits of the qualifications were increased from 88 to 145.

·         The indicative credits for outcome 1 were decreased from 48 to 20.

·         The indicative credits for outcome 2 were increased from 30 to 115.  It is considered that this is the core outcome for this qualification and the increase in indicative credits better reflects the role of a graduate.
